In the beginning was the Void. From that Void, life was created by the miracle that is Sound – Logos. These vibrational frequencies produce light, and in turn, life. Vibration, frequency, has an ability to affect us on a cellular level. Quantum physics is now beginning to provide us with evidentiary proof of what ancient cultures across the globe have always known – that the universe and all creation is made up of energetic frequencies, bringing consciousness to form. Some scientists even have shown that these sounds not only affect us on a quantum light body level, and in turn our bioenergetic field, but are actually showing that sound and vibration transforms the DNA, stimulating the DNA to create energetic signals, which spreads information throughout the physical body by means of the crystalline matrix of the fascia, bringing cellular healing, restructuring and regeneration, as well as activating heightened forms of consciousness.
We often hear that “it’s all about our frequency and vibration”. But what does that even mean? How does our way of moving in this incarnation affect our frequency and how does that affect the world (and universal consciousness!) around us?
Frequency, in its most basic definition, is the amount of energy passing through space over a certain length of time. So, how does this relate to us as material beings? Well, foundationally, we are not material beings. Physics has proven that all matter is merely energy condensed. If we were to break down matter, in its most basic form, we are light, energy, and even more profound, mostly space (95% space to be more precise). So, our beings are made up of energy moving through space and time, expressed by our projection of a material form. What we see is what our consciousness perceives this energy to be.
So then, how do we “raise our vibration” or “shift our frequency”? Science and spirituality are now coming to a consensus that our thoughts and emotions have a profound effect on how our cells behave. These two primary aspects affect us down to our very DNA. I am sure that you have heard about Dr. Masaru Emoto’s work with the consciousness of water and how the power of words, thoughts and intentions affected the crystalline structure of the expression of water. This, in essence, sums up the very nature of creation. We are made up of over 70% water, so, for those seeking the tangible, wouldn’t it make absolute sense that how we talk to ourselves, how we think about ourselves, the story we are telling our bodies, would manifest in the expression of our physical form? And then lets not forget, in its simplicity, the words we use, our voice as it resonates through our bodies creates a vibrational pattern through, creating patterns of harmony or discord.
Beyond the words and thoughts we use, what we consume affects our vibrational patterning as well. Down to the foods, the media, the environment we surround ourselves with, all of this affects us on an energetic level. When we are surrounded by, and filled with junk, it creates a discordant expression of our energy, creating dis-ease in the physical. When we work with things that are filled with the vital essence of nature, we bring ourselves back into a harmonic state. When we immerse ourselves in nature, when we eat vibrant, life-giving foods, when we stimulate our minds by taking in expansive, thought provoking materials, when we look at the beauty of art, we bring in higher vibrational states of being.
Heart coherence is a key component in how we work with frequency. According to Research Director Dr. Rollin McCraty, “Coherence is the state when the heart, mind, and emotions are in energetic alignment and cooperation.” The Heart is the center point of our electromagnetic field. Its electromagnetic field is about 60 times greater in amplitude than that of the brain. It has over 40,000 neurons of its own, with the ability to process, learn, and remember. The Heart is the one that actually perceives our environment first, then it relays that information to the brain, where it is sorted out into neurochemicals that relay those messages to the rest of the body. So, coherence is key here in relation to vibration. We bring in coherence through meditation, deep breathing (breathwork that works on heart rate variability), co-regulation, sensory soothing, bringing in thoughts of gratitude, love and joy, visualization of beauty, and any way we work with regulating Vagus nerve functioning has a direct effect on Heart coherence. When we operate from a coherent state, we are able to hold our vibration in a much more powerful way.
The last way that I want to touch on here is through sound. When we are immersed in a vibrational field of sound that is working with specific frequencies, it affects us on a cellular level. You can see this through the science of cymatics. As the frequencies hit coherent points, the patterns displayed in the medium become more refined, complex and beautiful. It is a reminder that the music we listen to, the sounds we immerse ourselves in, directly impact our harmonic state.
The power of coherence is the foundation of our vibrational state of being. How we achieve that is through conscious integration of practices of living that allow us to move through the world in the driver’s seat of our awareness. When we know our station, when we attune ourselves to the frequencies we choose, we can then lead a life of harmony, interconnection (with Self, the Earth, and the Cosmos), and conscious participation in the co-creation of our reality.
