Fire has the ability to completely transform, changing the face of an entire landscape. To take its raw, unbridled energy and shape its surroundings. When we begin to feel the Fire within, the passion, the fury, the depths of our pain and pleasure, the ecstatic expression of Spirit, it changes us. We see the potential for an inner alchemy that can bring forward true transformation.
We can begin to notice how in life, we are told continuously to “not be so angry, sensitive, loud, expressive… tone it down…”. That the authentic expression of our ecstatic essence is too much to bear. But what if we would allow ourselves to feel it all, all of the messy, all of the heavy – the lead that we unconsciously attach ourselves to, as we have become all too accustomed to the weight. To take in the alchemical powers of Fire’s transfiguration. To allow the physical to express all that raw, kinetic energy stored up within the body’s cells. To let it move you, to shape you, to purify you. To feel the heat, the intensity in what needs to be burned up and transformed.
Fire alone cannot bring in true alchemy. It is the initiator. That which instigates all of the dead growth, the excess burden of identity that we hang on to as a life raft. But, in Fire’s wisdom, it calls for us to reevaluate what we are carrying that is no longer nourishing us. It is in the balance with the Waters that can hold space for this expression. The cleansing tears shed offer up release, washing away the ash of burning. The dissolution of raw components, giving way to allow us to witness what is truly there. The Winds pick up, separating out for us to see what is an old outdated way of being, what is ready for release. The rising smoke, sending our sighs of relief, the prayers of change, revolution and revelation moving through our Hearts, guiding us back to that wisdom. All is released back into the stabilizing forces of Earth, the conjunction of our essence. Soothed by the Great Mother, you are held against her breast by the ground beneath your feet. Bringing nourishment and replenishment as the recycling of these energies, the breakdown of the old ego identity, to its baser materials so that it may flourish and replenish new growth. Just as the cool Earth in spring, after Fire has run through during the dry seasons of last year, you can see the refinement of the elemental processes, reviving the landscape. This integration brings forward a vibrance, a brilliant and beautiful landscape of new life.
As we see this reflected within our own inner landscapes, where have we tried to suppress the fire within us? Perhaps in fear of its destructive nature, its potential to tear through and devour everything in its path when held out of balance? Where are the places you have denied yourself the release of your own passion? When we begin to bring in awareness, can you feel it in your body? Where have you been holding patterns of suppression, and how is it reflected within?
I invite you to be with those spaces for just a moment. To allow them simply to be. To breathe into them, feeling the light of consciousness flooding in. Could you open just enough to begin to feel a little deeper, allowing the breath of life to stoke that Fire, to ask how it wants to move, how it wants to be expressed. To witness the beauty the flame holds. Can you give yourself permission to let it begin to reshape you, to move you? Allow yourself to shapeshift through the discomfort. It is time to stop fearing the power of our own inner fire, and to let it co-create a beautiful, balanced and vibrant world. One fully alive, and glistening with the gold within us that lights up the world with the brilliance of creation.
